Senior Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer V (30635-1) Location: (Vancouver, WA or Portland, OR)Location: 12 Months with scope of extensionClient: Social media giant**This is a consumer electronics failure analysis position that will require the individual to root-cause failures on electrical components. They will work within the factory and travel to Redmond for training. Senior level is needed because they need to own and drive FA work**Summary:As a Failure Analysis Engineer at Facebook, you will play an important role for determining rapid root cause analysis for issues occurred in new product development and reliability test. You will advise on strategies to mitigate issues and make a direct impact on product design. We emphasize on a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to solve technical issues. We are looking for an excellent team player. We are looking for an experienced individual who adheres to best-in-class lab practices, maintain an organized and clean laboratory environment, manage sample inventory, follow all lab health and safety regulations.This role will be embedded into our factory supporting our AR product development. This individual will be trained on the specific components and technology, and will be expected to self-drive the FA activities for our team. The primary responsibility is all FA related activities for a specific module our team supplies. Secondary responsibilities would be to assist the rest of the factory team in FA of other electrical and optical components as time allows.They will be remotely partnering with the design team, which is based in Redmond.Job Responsibilities:- Perform detailed root cause analysis on technically complex failures from NPI line, reliability test and field return- Identify and define appropriate characterization techniques to root cause complex problems- Cross-correlate data from various techniques to drive towards conclusions- Hands-on work with various tools including x-ray imaging, microscopy, spectroscopy, soldering iron, hot air rework tools, and wet chemistry techniques- On-the-ground support and engagement with XFN team and manufacturing partners for new product prototyping and reliability issues- Organize and track failures by unit serial number, maintain a database of all failures and their status, provide first pass FA, and assign to other team members as needed- Debug failures deemed electrical, optical, or embedded software which we are directly responsible for- Deeply understand design to effectively root-cause failures- Leverage broad understanding of FATP and product integration to seek out potential failures that could have been caused by design, handling, operator, process, fixture, test station, assembly, interference, environment, or any other factor.- Produce detailed FA reports per unit using a standard format.Skills:- An excellent team player, able to Influence others, lead teams to root cause and corrective actions for complex problem- Self-starter and creative problem-solver- Project management skill and deeply organized- Excellent organizational ability to rapidly database and triage failures. Need to correctly bucket common failures together to identify high-level failure categories.- Experience working directly with ODM, JDM, or CM’s, in a factory setting, following similar models of failure analysis- Experience working in a laboratory environment, including low class clean roomsEducation/Experience:- 5+ years failure analysis experience- Hands-on work with various tools including x-ray imaging (2D X-ray/CT Scan), microscopy, SEM, FTIR, cross-section, dye-and-pry- Experience in consumer electronics, knowledge on assembly, PCBA, display module, speaker/Mic module, adhesive etc.- Degree in physics, electronics, electrical engineering, optics, or related field, BS or MS is preferred- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with US and China teamsThis position is a remote role based in the Vancouver, WA or Portland, OR area. This position will be embedded into our CM (factory) partner as a visitor and it is expected the individual will primarily be working from the factory most days.
