New products and technologies raise new issues that Facebook takes very seriously.As a part of Facebook’s commitments to civil rights, Facebook has set up a new Civil Rights Team within the legal organization to ensure collaboration with internal policy, product, and legal teams on civil rights issues and how they intersect with company policies and practices.We are looking for someone to temporarily backfill for the team’s Program and Strategy Lead, who serves as a key strategic and operational leader, provides support to the company’s Civil Rights VP, and manages the civil rights strategy and programming for the team, working with cross-functional teams across the company.Responsibilities:This person will help the Civil Rights Team:Instill civil rights best practices within the companyIdentify proactive civil rights priorities for the company and guide the implementation of those prioritiesDevelop systems, processes, or other measures to improve the company’s ability to spot and address potential civil rights implications in products and policies before they launchGive voice to civil rights risks and concernsSpecific Program Lead Responsibilities:Assist with the cross-functional operations for civil rights initiativesSupport the Civil Rights VP on driving the company-wide civil rights strategy, which includes proactively identifying civil rights priorities for the company and then guiding the implementation of those prioritiesPartner with teams across the company to build new processes and systems or fold into existing onesCollaboration with internal policy, product, legal and comms teams on decisions, escalations and initiatives that involve civil rights issuesPartner with External Affairs on engagement with external stakeholders and the civil rights communityStay up to date on relevant and arising civil rights and policy issues affecting Facebook and build proactive strategiesMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree (Advanced degree preferred)8-10 years of experience working in complex, cross-functional work environments and managing large initiatives independentlyStrong systems thinker with exceptional organizational / project management skillsExpertise with managing executives on complex decision-making exercisesExperience operating independently and executing flawlessly on both the strategic and operational levelKnowledge of and passion for critical civil rights issues that impact tech products and policies
