We share our data responsibly with international institutions, government agencies, universities, and nonprofits around the world to respond more effectively to global challenges and crises like climate change, displacement from the war in Ukraine, natural disasters, and economic downturns. As a Program Manager on the Data for Good team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our publicly available datasets and website, onboarding partners to our controlled access datasets, and supporting the international Data for Good community in 70 countries.Roles and responsibilitiesMaintain/update the Data for Good public data sharing surface on Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX) and public facing websiteMany of Data for Good’s datasets are publicly available through Humanitarian Data Exchange, a data sharing platform hosted by the United Nations. Through various contact forms on HDX, you will be responsible for responding to and routing inquiries from governments, academics, and other stakeholders interested in using our datasets for their workData for Good’s website is our major public outreach tool, which houses descriptions of all the datasets we offer, as well as case studies on the many ways in which these tools have impacted communities and the world.As the point of contact for the Data for Good website, you will also be responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of new content and tools pages, troubleshooting issues as they arise with translations, contact pages, and other items.Onboard new Data for Good partners to controlled access datasetsIn addition to our publicly available datasets, Data for Good offers protected datasets, including maps products and microdata from surveys, which require a series of internal and external approvals in order for a partnership to be formalized and for a partner to gain access. assist in the approval workflow for protected datasets including monitoring data requests from the Data for Good inbox, routing internal approvals in various Meta systems, as well as liaising with legal teams at Meta and at partner institutions to finalize data sharing agreements. You will also help onboard new partners to secure systems and tooling that allow them to access the datasets and help keep our partner records up to date.Document and track impact on social issues through case study development and other outreachData for Good partners are constantly conducting new research, publishing articles or making critical decisions based on our datasets and tools. In-contact with many of these partners and will have the opportunity to identify impactful case studies for our team and work with the partner to document and write about this meaningful work.Support Data for Good international communityData for Good sends out a quarterly newsletter to both partners and the broader Data for Good community and is the primary vehicle through which we stay in touch with the nearly 700 institutions with whom we partner. The newsletter includes updates on new tools, case studies, events and research, as well as top tier publications that use Data for Good tools. Compose and coordinate with colleagues to ensure all relevant updates are included and sent out to partners.Desired education/years of experienceMinimum five years of professional experience. BA required; MA preferred. Preferred focus on public policy, international development, or another relevant discipline. Understanding of data analysis and the nonprofit ecosystem preferred. Project management experience and technical acumen required. General familiarity with code for the purpose of maintaining our website is also useful.
