Duties: The Product Designer will be dedicated to the production and maintenance of People Products Guidance Library and interpret the shared Geodesic Design System Library for desktop and mobile. Having a role focused on this must-dowork will allow the remaining FTE designers to focus on meeting their deliverables by supporting their needs. Thedesigner will also be focused on facilitating component updates for the People Products team, and creating specifications for the new components and patterns we have on our roadmap for the half.Responsibilities:Give and solicit feedback from other designers in order to continually raise the bar for qualityReview the existing landscape of current components and design a solution that is simple, elegant and scalable across our interfacesParticipate in design crits to identify new components and patterns that can become standardizedDesign or evolve existing designed componentsDocument and spec patterns and componentsDefine and iterate on system level standards – typography, color, illustration, grid, etcCreate tools and templates to automate the consumption of componentsPartner with PMs, engineers, researchers and content strategists to oversee the user experience of a component pattern from conception until launchSkills: Hard SkillsExpert with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, and IllustratorProficient with Microsoft Office and G-SuiteComfortable with HTML/CSS/Basic MarkupStrong product thinking and familiarity with design systems to define of how components would interact across different surfaces or scenariosExperience prototyping workflows and interactionsHigh craft visual design with a clean and modern aestheticAttention to detail – You should be able to notice if a design is using the wrong font size, type choice and is 3pixels off from an existing standardSoft Skills:Proactive, resourceful and driven self-starter – skilled at navigating a matrixed organization and building design and XFN relationshipsPolished communication and collaboration skills – adept at breaking down complex user experience and interface design problems into digestible action items for both technical and non-technical audiencesRelentlessly positive can-do attitude, excited to tackle complicated problem spaceExperienced and track record of success with collaborating with both fellow designers and XFN partners (e.g. PM,Engineering, Content Strategy, Research)Active and willing participant in team design reviews/critiques and able to provide productive and constructive feedback to fellow designersMust Haves: 7+ years industry experienceStrong sense of visual craft with a healthy obsession on polishHave strong production design experienceHigh level of collaboration working across cross functions to deliver workStrong product thinking with a familiarity of design systems, specifically:Relationship between design decisions and impact at a systems-level scaleTypography, spacing and color as they relate to information hierarchiesHave enough technical acumen to pick up a prototyping toolSelf directed project management skillsShipping products in the enterprise and business spaceEducation: Bachelor’s DegreeSkills and Experience:Required Skills: SKETCHINGPROTOTYPINGARTICULATEINTERACTION DESIGNPRODUCT DESIGNERAdditional Skills:SHIPPINGEXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLSFRONT ENDUSER EXPERIENCEFRONT END DESIGN
