This team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs and delivering them to market at scale. Meta Reality Labs seeks a Materials Engineer with the ability to bring new materials to consumer products at scale. We are looking for a slightly impatient individual willing to face down their fear of failure to accomplish bold things.ResponsibilitiesSupport product development engineers in the development of new technologies and remove material barriers from the path to commercializationDefine and execute testing and evaluation of materials to determine performance and drive material selectionDefine and investigate novel materials to enable technology to be integrated in consumer devicesSupport high volume production of products taking ownership of the material selection challengesWork closely with the simulation, reliability, and other cross-functional teams to provide dataDesired QualificationsBS in material science, chemistry, mechanical engineering or equivalent experienceKnowledge in pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) or liquid dispensed adhesivesExperience with high tech and industry leading consumer hardwareExperience thriving in an extremely dynamic and fast-paced environmentProven curiosity for science and technologyUnderstanding of biocompatibility and regulatory requirements for skin-contact applicationsTop 3 must-have HARD skills:• BS in material science, chemistry, mechanical engineering or equivalent experience• Knowledge in pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) or liquid dispensed adhesives• Understanding of materials selection for consumer electronicsGood to have skills:• Experience with high tech and industry leading consumer hardware• Understanding of biocompatibility and regulatory requirements for skin-contact applicationsYears of experience required- 3+ (ideally 5+ years)Key performance measurements- consistently high level of productivity across multiple projects- drive adhesive related testing and selection to resolution often without guidance.- lead small projects or small teams of people (including activities like running team meetings, doing project status reports, etc).- drive tasks across other teams and as such you are able to build relationships as needed across teams.Degrees or certifications required- Bachelor’s degree
