Job Title:Lab Engineer III [20899-1]Req: 20899-1Type: W2 Contract with possible Extension or Conversion.Duration: 12 Months Location: Burlingame CA*Must be authorized to work in US*Job Description:In this role, you will provide tech support during capture sessions using state-of-the-art motion-capture systems to fuel research to create drivable virtual humans and enable human representation (Avatars/Holograms/photorealistic telepresence) for next generation VR/AR applications. We have made some important advances, but we need these systems to be able to repeatedly capture at high volumes and throughputs.Summary:The ideal candidate is a person with demonstrated experience with advanced multi-camera capture systems, capable of quickly learning how to work with new custom devices, including hardware setup, capture, calibration, system upgrades, and data transfers. A qualified candidate will work with software engineers and external partners, suppliers, and adopters to ensure all aspects of the project are covered.Responsibilities:Coordinate with hardware vendors and teams to set up, upgrade and debug capture devices.Perform testing and calibration every day prior to captures.Troubleshoot captures.Provide technical feedback for quality, stability and system output by monitoring system and infrastructure effectiveness.Produce and present informal status briefings to project management.Collaborate in a team environment across engineering disciplines.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in engineering.Experience working with camera calibration systems.Experience working with systems and networking setups.Experience in fault analysis or failure mode analysis.Experience working with Python and bash scripts.Experience in working with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Research, Product Design, etc.Preferred qualifications:5+ years relevant experience.Familiarity of computer and networking architectures, server development and deployment.Expertise or education in project management and cross-functional partnerships.Experience in integration planning.Experience in systems engineering processes, system architecture principles, and/or systems integration into development program life cycle activities.Experience with software development, including but not limited to C, C++, or Python.Highlighted Qualifications:Experience working with camera calibration systems.Demonstrated experience with advanced multi-camera capture systems.Experience in fault analysis or failure mode analysis.Python and Bash scripts.
