Job Title: Electrical Technician III 33406-1Duration: 12 Months (W2 Possible Conversion)Location: Sunnyvale, CASummary:The main function of an Electrical technician is to lay out, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems, such as computer equipment, applying principles and theories of electronics, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing. A typical Electrical technician has the ability to makeJob Responsibilities:Perform failure analysis on field return Consumer Electronics devices.Replicate customer reported failures, and isolate failures to module or component level.Assemble, disassemble, test electronic systems according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronics, using hand and power tools.Investigate assemblies and various manufacturing defects for root causes.Generate test scenarios, test instruction and collect data as needed.Utilize various diagnostic equipment to characterize failures (power supply, oscilloscope, audio tester, thermal camera, microscope).Collect software logs, update and Flash devices with new software and firmware.Organize and manage lab space including testing areas, assembly areas and other workspaces within the lab.Receive, track and ship devices. Manage and report progress of devices under triageWrite reports and record data on testing techniques, laboratory equipment, and specifications to assist engineersCollaborate with relevant internal (mechanical, electrical, quality, software engineering teams) and external partners.Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components.Skills:Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.Team player and detail oriented.Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.Education/Experience:BS (or AS) in Electrical, Software, or Mechanical Engineering.Experience with high volume consumer electronics productsExperience with testing and repair of consumer electronics, aerospace, automotive, or medical devices..Experience using some failure analysis techniques and equipment.High attention to detail, hands-on and self-motivatedProven ability to work autonomously with minimal guidanceFamiliar with diagnostic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies and other standard lab equipment (microscope, hand soldering tools).Experience with articulating engineering solutions to both technical and nontechnical cross- functional teamsĀ
