Job Title: Data Center Technician III 32921-1Duration: 12 Months (W2 Possible Conversion)Location: Burlingame, CAJOB SUMMARY:Work with client teams to perform datacenter repair tech duties such as provisioning, repairs, decommissioning, moves, troubleshooting, shipping, and inventory management. Help ensure operational readiness of IT hardware by offering detailed, ongoing serviceability feedback.Job Duties:In-depth usage of command-line tools and techniques, both Linux and client-specific.Hardware installation, rack and stack, cabling, provisioning and decommission.Hardware diagnosis and/or repairsCoordinate with internal DC teams: ENS, DRT, DCC, Power and space on dependent tasks, e.g., Network configuration on a rack that is needed for a new serverTask/ticket managementDevice/System configurationSystem troubleshooting with remote engineersDocument installation, repair procedures and rack layoutsProvide feedback for HW troubleshooting testing and installationValidate repair documentation for IT hardware and configurations.Support on-site vendor visits by escorting and assistance with internal tools.Asset/Inventory ManagementEquipment support RMAAssist in development of hardware requirements and specificationsOther tasks as required to support IT service on local basisMonitor data center environment and equipment, maintaining servers when necessary.Test data center hardware.Process requests for new hardware, as well as cancelations of requests.Clean, organize, and inspect the data center.Perform maintenance tasks on servers and hardware inventory.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 2-4 years experience with Linux system administration, network administrationExperience working in physical layer of data center operations (hardware)Basic understanding of server hardwareProficiency on the Linux command line with common UNIX toolsProficiency on the Windows Operating System2-4 years experience with Linux system administration, network administrationDriven, self-motivated work ethicEagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to constant changeFocused, detail oriented, able to manage and analyze technical data from multiple sourcesAbility to dynamically switch between people-oriented and technically-oriented mindsetsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsKnowledge of RPM based Linux DistributionsBasic Knowledge of Networking.Strong understanding of server hardware.Customer service and problem solving skills.Team oriented with attention for detail.SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Able to safely lift and move a minimum of fifty (50) poundsMay travel between locations based on need (15 Miles)Education/Experience:Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred but not required.
