Job Title: Automation Engineer IV [27869-1]Req: 27869-1Type: W2 ContractDuration: 12 Months with possible conversionClient: Social Media LeaderLocation: Fremont CA*Must be authorized to work in United States*Summary:The main function of an automation engineer is to design, program, simulate, and test automated technology and processes in order to carry out specific tasks. The typical automation engineer is responsible for detailed design specifications and other documents in the process of creation.Job Responsibilities:Design, develop, and test the manufacture of automated equipment.Evaluate the cost effectiveness, reliability and safety of certain design models.Estimate time and cost to complete projects.Simulate and test machine/structure/system operation.Investigate and test vendors’ and competitors’ products.Handle escalations from deployment team and automationWork on alerts and support ticketsAssess urgency/impact of the issue, determine priorityTroubleshoot workflows and tools, perform RCA, unblock deployment processes by performing a workaround or a permanent fix. Communication & CoordinationWork with vendors and ISPs in order to schedule & coordinate deployment, maintenance and decom activities.Perform hardware troubleshooting and RMA.Provide assistance using remote sessions and smart hands.Work with other teams, internal and XFN in order to perform escalations and work with system & tooling owners towards a resolution.AutomationConceptualize, build, and maintain workflows and tools to support network deployment.Drive scaling efforts across the global network.Documentation.Create and maintain MOP/SOP & run-books for the processes used by the team.Skills:Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.Team player and detail oriented.Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.Ability to perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction and installation standards and specifications.Ability to apply principles of automated theory to engineering projects.Previous experience with computer applications and design software related to the engineering field. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations and utilize troubleshooting skills, systems and tools, and creative problem solving abilities under pressureAbility to work within a global team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with no supervisionStrong attention to detail with excellent time management and organization skillsNetworkingNetworking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, load balancing, switching, and routingKnowledge of IPv6 and BGP.General knowledge of Content Delivery Networks and/or Internet Peering strategiesSystemsProficient working with linux shell, its main commands and tools. Knowledge of container technologies such as LXC and Docker.Knowledge of Databases (e.g. MySQL) and a general knowledge of SQL.Knowledge of CI/CD process and systems like Jenkins, Gitlab, Bamboo.Knowledge of Infrastructure as a code solutions such as Ansible, Chef and Puppet AutomationKnowledge of one or more programming languages (Java, C#, Python, PHP, GO or similar)Experience with scripting languages (Bash/sh/perl/powershell or similar)Knowledge of JavaScript / React is a plus.Education/Experience:• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.Must HavesKnowledge of one or more programming languages (Java, C#, Python, PHP, GO or similar), SVC systems like git and CI/CD systems like Jenkins, bamboo, gitlab.Proficient working with linux shell, its main commands and tools.Knowledge of Databases (e.g. MySQL) and a general knowledge of SQL.Good to HaveNetworking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, load balancing, switching, and routing.Knowledge of container technologies such as LXC and Docker.Knowledge of Infrastructure as a code solutions such as Ansible, Chef and Puppet.
