Description  SummaryThe Associate Director, Risk Management will support Arcus’s growing compliance program. Reporting to the Head of Compliance, this individual will be responsible for managing the company’s internal risk management through monitoring, audit, ethics reporting, and investigations. This role will require initiative to develop and implement new processes to support the company through an expected period of rapid growth and development.ResponsibilitiesImplement and oversee an effective monitoring and auditing program to assess the company’s compliance with its policies and proceduresBased upon periodic evaluation and risk analysis, identify areas of priority for internal auditing and monitoringMaintain and optimize the company’s Open-Door reporting, including managing communications to support reportingDevelop and maintain dashboards of risks, monitoring activities, ethics reports, and investigations to facilitate internal communications and assessment of trendsRegularly evaluate the company’s compliance and training program against the evolving legal, regulatory, and business landscape, anticipate emerging trends to help the company adapt, and propose tailored solutionsRecommend the initiation of investigations in response to alleged violations of the company’s Code of Conduct, policies and procedures, and/or applicable lawsManage all aspects of internal investigations and coordinate with legal/external counsel and impacted functions, such as quality, HR, information security and other functions as necessary for an efficient gathering and analysis of informationBe a pillar and advocate of our compliance cultureQualifications8+ years of experience in the compliance or legal function of a biopharmaceutical company and/or a healthcare compliance practice of a nationally recognized law firm or consulting firmAbility to apply a risk-based analysis to compliance issues and demonstrate creativity and flexibility in developing solutions to satisfy both business requirements and legal obligationsAttention to detail in investigative record-keeping, including the ability to pull together information from multiple sources to develop a clear picture and story of the events and the company’s responseExcellent judgment in assessing the impact or potential impact of incidents or events on the companyExperience using technology to visualize risks and incidents for clear communication to managementAbility to manage a wide variety of matters, recognizing and responding quickly and pragmatically to urgent situationsKnowledge of and experience with, or the desire to learn about, U.S. and international corporate compliance and healthcare compliance guidelines relating to ethics reporting and investigations, as well as best practices for compliance program development generallyAbility to work independently while meeting aggressive deadlines and juggling complex mattersProcess oriented with attention to detail and strong analytical thinking and data analysis skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsThis role can be based at our Hayward or Brisbane, CA locations (preferred) or can be remote based. The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this position is $160,000 – $170,000. For remote-based candidates, the salary range may vary based on local market data. Factors such as relevant experience, education, duration of experience, and length of industry experience will influence the actual salary offered.
